How to extend the life of the printhead?

The printhead is a very important part of all printer components, which directly affects the printing quality. Since the thermal print head is particularly fragile, it is easy to cause abnormal printing if it is not properly maintained. So how should we maintain it? Or what are the precautions?

1. Clean the print head regularly. The print head needs to be cleaned after every two to three rolls of ribbon or four to five rolls of thermal paper labels are used.

2. When cleaning the print head, remove hard objects such as rings to prevent scratches on the print head.

3. It is recommended to use a grounding bus or anti-static mat to release static electricity to avoid damaging the print head.

4. Never use any hard metal or rough objects (such as screwdrivers) to remove contaminants from the print head. You can use a medical cotton swab dipped in anhydrous alcohol for cleaning. Remember to turn off the printer before cleaning

5. Use high-quality thermal transfer ribbon. Because the side of the inferior ribbon that contacts the print head may be coated with other substances or have other substances remaining on it, which will corrode the print head or cause damage to the print head. Hansprintec manufacture high quality ribbon, such as wax, wax resin and resin.

6. Make sure the ribbon is wider than the label to prevent the exposed print head from being scratched by the label;

7. Under the premise of ensuring printing quality, the printing temperature and speed can be appropriately reduced to help extend the life of the print head;

Factors that cause premature damage to the print head:

1. Scratches - the long-term movement of self-adhesive label/thermal transfer ribbon through the print head will wear away the protective layer of the ceramic coating, exposing the print head needle and eventually damaging it;

2. Burned needles - foreign matter accumulates on the surface of the print needle (toner, glue stains, label debris, etc.), and the heat cannot be dissipated in time, causing the print needle to burn out;
